Home Department Limited to WhatsApp, Facebook: Sunil Kumar

Shivamogga: The Home Department is neglecting serious law and order issues in the state, including drug trafficking, murder, and assault, and is limited to monitoring only WhatsApp and Facebook, alleged former minister V. Sunil Kumar.

Speaking to reporters in Shivamogga, he said, "The Home Department is non-existent today. It is only monitoring the speeches of BJP leaders on Facebook and WhatsApp and taking action. This is a very unfortunate development," he criticized.

Condemning the notice issued to BJP leaders C.T. Ravi and Yashpal Suvarna, he said, "The Congress government is under the illusion that it can intimidate people by issuing notices. We are not afraid of Golibar and lathi charges. There is no question of succumbing to such threats," he said.

"Only those who speak against the Congress and those belonging to the BJP are being targeted and action is being taken. A case of attempt to murder has been registered against farmers who protested in Bidar. FIRs are being registered against legislators. The Goonda Act is being invoked against Hindu organization activists. Overall, the government is following a policy of not allowing anyone to speak against the Congress," he alleged.

"The people of the state will have to tolerate this government for another one and a half years. In the 2028 assembly elections, the people will give a fitting reply to all these actions," he said.

BJP teams tour to inspect drought situation

The BJP has already formed six teams to tour the state to study the drought situation, said Sunil Kumar.

"We are doing what the state government should be doing. No minister in the government is paying attention to the problems of farmers. Farmers in the state are feeling orphaned. This tour is being undertaken to instill courage in them and to stand by them in times of crisis," he said.
